Ladakh is a land like no other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram, it lies athwart two other, the Ladakh range and the Zanskar range. Only where rivers, running from faraway glaciers or melting snow, carry water to habitation do you find plant life-hence the moonland laber, since Ladakh is as dry as the Sahara. But most of all there are the delightful Ladakhis, friendly as only Tibetan people can be and immensely colorful.

Wildlife is abundant in the mountains. It is very common on our treks to see herds of blue sheep, some ibex, an occasional wolf, wild yaks, marmots, chukors, and birds of prey such as the golden eagle and the lammergier. Snow leopards also live in these mountains but are rarely seen due to their shyness.
