Ladakh is a land like no other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram, it lies athwart two other, the Ladakh range and the Zanskar range. Only where rivers, running from faraway glaciers or melting snow, carry water to habitation do you find plant life-hence the moonland laber, since Ladakh is as dry as the Sahara. But most of all there are the delightful Ladakhis, friendly as only Tibetan people can be and immensely colorful.
